Week 1: Responsibility
This past Sunday July 27th, 2025, Pastor Mike reminds us that we are all God’s Master Pieces. A masterpiece is a creation that is intentionally thought out. We are all created for a purpose. It’s imperative that we encourage and remind ourselves that he created us for good works and for a purpose. Do you believe that? Have you ever forgotten this?
Ephesians 2:10
For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.
He has given us all we need to accomplish our purpose in varying measures. Some have what others don’t have and vise versa to complete his work as a whole. He gave us these resources:
Responsibility: The state or fact of being accountable.
We live in a time where society doesn’t want to be accountable. Being accountable is having an answer for “what did you do with what was given to you?”
1 Peter 4:10
As each one has received a gift, minister it to one another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God.
God gave us gifts to use to serve others. When you give, God multiplies what He gives us back. We aren’t on this mission alone. The Holy Spirit partners with us. God has made an agreement that He has to work through man. Pastor Mike compares this to a woman birthing a child into the world. It takes a willing person. The only delay is He is waiting for us to agree to do His will. He is patient and merciful as He gives us many opportunities, but if we miss each one or deny them, He will give His blessings to the next willing soul.
John 14:16
And I will pray the Father, He will give you another Helper, that He may abide with you forever –
The Holy Trinity
God is the head. When you give yourself to Jesus Christ and invite the Holy Spirt inside of you, we combine that with our gifts and the Holy Spirit leads us. How do we know what God’s purpose is for us? Our responsibility is to hear and obey. Stay plugged in. This means to be in constant relationship with God. Talking to God all the time, not just at your scheduled times such as Church on Sundays, first thing in the morning, at mealtimes, or at night. This should be applied through your day as well in everything that you do. Give thanks for the small blessings, praise God through the good times and bad times, and ask the Holy Spirit for direction in decision making for each decision that arises.
In the book of Joshua, the Lord gave the children of Isreal instructions for battle. Sin came in when they disobeyed, and they lost the battle. (they unplugged)
Joshua 8:34-35
And afterward he read all the words of the law, the blessings and the cursing’s, according to all that is written in the Book of the Law. There was not a word of all that Moses had commanded which Joshua did not read before all the assembly of Isreal, with the woman, the little ones, and the strangers who were living among them.
The children repented and reminded themselves not to disobey God again.
Joshua 9:1-18
The word of what God had done was spread all around. When you get serious about God the enemy strategizes against you. He works craftily to deceive and attempts to make a deal with you. If you make a deal without the counsel of the Lord, your plans will be unsuccessful. When we “unplug” from the Holy Spirit we give the enemy access and are working against God.
Hebrews 5:12-14
For though by this time you ought to be teachers, you need someone to teach you again the first principles of the oracles of God; and you have come to need milk and not solid food. For everyone who partakes only of milk is unskilled in the word of righteousness, for he is a babe. But solid food belongs to those who are full age, that is, those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil.
Why isn’t everyone maturing spiritually? How do we unplug from the Holy Spirit? The answer to these questions is that we don’t ask Him before deciding, we don’t spend time with Him, and we don’t listen. We do what we think instead of obeying. Our ideas (our flesh) are against the Holy Spirit’s instructions. The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak. Growth doesn’t happen by accident, but intentionally. Be willing and obedient. The enemy shows up in the form of rebellion. The Bible states rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft. Laziness and selfishness are weapons of the enemy.
Isaiah 1:19-20
“If you are willing and obedient, You shall eat the good of the land; But if you refuse and rebel, You shall be devoured by the sword”; For the mouth of the Lord has spoken.
Praying with others helps you grow your prayer life, the growth classes provided by Impact Church helps you grow your knowledge. These are to help fulfill the assignment God has for you. May we pray the Lord would make our church a willing and obedient congregation.
John 2:23-24
Now when He was in Jerusalem at the Passover, during the feast, many believed in His name when they saw the signs which He did. But Jesus did not commit Himself to them, because He knew all men,
Can we be people Jesus can trust? No explanations, no proof, just trust. Ask yourself; Am I willing and obedient? Is something stopping me from doing this? Is it fear, worry, or past hurt? Now is the time for all of us to step out in faith. Fear is, what if? Faith is, even if.
